CHUBBY'S
THE WORTHY CONTENDER
When it comes to Philly’s cheesesteak rivalries, we all know about Pat’s vs. Geno’s. But there’s an equally intense rivalry going on in Roxborough between two of the city’s finest steakeries – Dalessandro’s and Chubby’s.
Dalessandro’s has been around since 1961 and their fame has spread far and wide. But then there’s Chubby’s, founded in 1987. Perhaps you have stood in line at Dalessandro’s, gazed at that modern-looking building on the other side of Henry Avenue, and wondered if you should give Chubby’s a try.
By all means you should. You will be glad you did.
Chubby’s has it all – a parking lot, indoor seating (unlike Dalessandro’s), friendly servers, beer in frosted glasses, and yes, cheesesteaks that are every bit as delicious as the ones across the street (or anywhere else in Philadelphia, for that matter). Chubby’s cheesesteaks feature generous amounts of juicy, tasty, well-seasoned beef, topped with Chubby’s signature monster onions and saturated with melted cheese.
Chubby’s is widely regarded as one of Philly’s best cheesesteaks. It is indeed a worthy challenger to Dalessandro’s. This is a rivalry where everyone wins, and is certainly worth the short trip to Roxborough. Just cross the picturesque Henry Avenue Bridge and you are just about there.
